Krystel Montpetit
Senior Policy Analyst

Krystel Montpetit is a development and environmental economist, applied econometrician and senior policy advisor with 15 years of experience in foresight, risks, resilience and adaptation. Her work spans mixed-methods research, climate risks assessment (CRAs), impact, vulnerability and risk assessments (IVRAs), systemic risks assessments, predictive analytics, scenario simulations, policy monitoring and evaluation (e.g. impact evaluation) and randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Specialising in multi-solving approaches, Krystel now focuses on assessing, preventing, mitigating and adapting to climate, environmental, global development, health and well-being risks.

She previously led the Foresight Team for Development Cooperation at the OECD and has contributed her expertise to institutions such as the World Economic Forum, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the G20 and BRICS Research Groups, the Institute for Sustainability, the Ethiopian Government, the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), and Technopolis Group.

Krystel holds a dual Master of Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Sciences Po Paris, where she specialized in applied econometrics, foresight, and development economics. Her LSE thesis examined whether socio-economic equality predicts environmental and climate performance amongst similarly developed countries. She also holds postgraduate diplomas in Climate Change Economics and Behavioural Insights for Public Policy from Harvard University, and a certificate in Foresight from the School of International Futures. She is certified by the UN CC:Learn in National Adaptation Planning and climate risk integration. A 2013 Donella Meadows Fellow, Krystel is a proud member of the Balaton Group and the French Environment and Health Network (RES).
